Civi Haus is a Brooklyn design-build firm making homes for the design-obsessed — Those who can tell the difference between luxury and taste.
 

Founded by Shad Roberts, Civi Haus keeps design and construction under one roof. Every project is a ground-up reimagining of how a space should feel: historic bones, modern nerve.

In close collaboration with J. Powers Studio, Civi Haus has gutted and rebuilt 19th-century Brooklyn brownstones, crafted custom built-ins, and reimagined apartments across the boroughs. Each one treated like a flagship, not a flip. 

But Civi Haus is about more than homes. It's about building a community of creatives and designers. People who believe the spaces we live in shape the lives we lead.

What we believe
 

• Taste is the luxury. Expensive means nothing without intention. We sweat the hinge, the grout line, the way light hits plaster at 4pm.

• Old souls, new rules. We respect the bones — restoration first, done properly. Then we marry that craftsmanship with outside-the-box thinking: design-forward, never coldly modern.

• Built, not decorated. A Civi Haus space is constructed around how you'll actually live — the dinners, the listening sessions, the mornings. Design follows life, not the other way around.

• For the thousand, not the million. We're not for everyone, and that's the point. We build for a community that lives design the way we do.
